Les Paul Copy
It was probably your first guitar. You could call it a Les Paul "Copy". But it wasn't. There is something DISTINCT about a real Gibson Les Paul. Its sustain giving weight; its solid mahogany body with a carved maple cap construction; its super creamy PAF humbuckers. Yes its shape. The focus of this site, the Les Paul copy, looks like a Gibson. It has the single cutaway body with dual pickups. But it doesn't have the fat tone of a Gibson Les Paul. Or at least most don't. But that doesn't matter. There are plenty of Les Paul Copy guitars that sound great, look superb, and play like butter. And this site is dedicated to them - to all those (mostly) Japanese 'lawsuit' guitars built in the 1970s and 80s in the style of a Gibson, but with their own voices. Some were awesome, others were terrible. Welcome to the world of the Les Paul copy!

It has a pair of old Dimarzio pickups (I've seen sold on eBay for $150 00) , new 500 A and B pots, a new selector switch, and has a pair of tasty (to my ears) capacitors installed. The frets are getting rather worn down, but it still plays beautifully with low action. The truss rod is functional. The front and rear binding has age cracks in them. For sale is my 1983 Greco EG-59 Mint Collection Les Paul.
I am not sure what model it is but it was sold to me as an 800, I believe that is the case. It is definitely a higher end one as it has a 2 piece back and flame maple veneer. The lower spec ones around this time had 3 piece backs and plain 2 or 3 piece maple tops. It also has fret edge binding. It has a lovely dark rosewood fretboard.
